How Does Insulated Glass Work?

Insulated glass is made by sealing two or three glass layers together at the edges and trapping dry air or argon gas between them. This gap slows the passage of heat and sound. Adding low-e (low-emissivity) coated glass increases thermal insulation further, while solar-control glass prevents summer overheating — lowering both heating and cooling costs.
